Honda Engines Will Never Let You Down

If you want to have the best automobile that will last for a lifetime, Honda Cars are the ones made to accommodate that need.  Honda Cars have constantly been innovating and upgrading their models to make sure that every user will have its own perfect car.  The engines are nothing but the best and perform to the highest level.  Honda engines are classified under different classes.  Honda has many engine series to choose from, B-Series and D-Series are one of those.

The B-Series Honda Inline (I4) DOHC (Dual Overhead Cam) engines are famous automotive engines used by Honda Modern Cars – Honda Tech, Integra and Prelude.  B-Series can produce between 142 horsepower (106kW) to 200 horsepower (150kW) from the moment they get out from the factory.  There are even models that have redlines over 8,000 rpm.  The engines are manufactured into different liter variants too, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8 and 2.0 with and without VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control).

The engine B16A2 is one of the best engines that is used by modern cars with VTEC.  The B16A2 has a displacement of 1,595 cc (97.3 cu.in) which has been very useful to sports cars.  It has a Bore x Stroke of 81.0 x 77.4 mm (3.19 x 3.05 in); Oil compression is 10.2:1; Power of 160 hp(119kW) @ 7600 rpm & 111 lb. ft (150 N.m) @7000 rpm; Transmission: Y21 or S4C; Redline… 7800 rpm; Rev Limit… 8200 rpm; VTEC Engagement … 5,600rpm; Aluminum casting.

The B16A2 has been used by different generations of Honda Tech, Integra and Prelude.  Honda cars with this engine never failed to amaze car owners.  In fact, in North America, these cars has made it to the second-longest running-continuously nameplate from Japanese manufacturer.  With the B-Series engines, the car provides good interior space despite overall small dimensions.  It has been known to be an environment-friendly engine because of its oil compression.

The d16y8 is one of the D-Series Honda engines that are commonly used for Honda Civic, CRX, Logo, Stream and the first generation Integra.  Under New Zealand, it has a code of d16y6.  It is found mo0stly in Honda Civic generation ranging from 1996 – 2000.  Unlike the B16A2, the Displacement is 1590 cc; it has Bore x Stroke of 75 x 90mm (3.0 x 3.5 in); Rod Length: 137 MM; Rod/Stroke 1.52; Compression 9.6:1; Valvetrain: SOHC VTEC 4 valves per cylinder; Power is 127 hp (94.7 kW, 129 ps) 6600 @ rpm; Torque: 111 ft.lbf (145.1 Nm) 5500 @ rpm; Piston code P2P; Redline 6900 rpm; Rev Limited to 7200 rpm.

Both B16A2 and d16y8 have been used for sports cars and have won several awards too.  Honda has and always been known to manufacture engines and cars that are very unique and simple.  Honda has indeed made a great contribution in the history of cars and engines worldwide.
